ICAR has now published an UG vacant-seat matrix after the 2026 mop-up/final-round admission process. The official counselling portal lists “ICAR-UG Vacant Seat Matrix after Mop-up Round Admission-2026” dated August 31.
That vacant-seat list does not by itself mean a new central counselling round is open. The official counselling schedule still identifies the August 22–23 stage as the Mop-Up/Final Round, and the current ICAR notice list checked on September 7 does not show a newer general UG counselling round or reopened choice-filling window.
What should ICAR UG candidates do now?
If you already received a mop-up/final-round seat, use Applicant Login to verify whether your admission workflow is complete. Check document verification, Seat Acceptance Fee, Provisional Admission Letter and any university-specific instruction.
If you were not allotted a seat, do not treat the post-mop-up vacant-seat matrix as permission to submit a fresh choice or claim a seat. Wait for a controlling ICAR or university instruction before taking any new admission action.

What is the new ICAR vacant-seat update?
The official ICAR Admission Counselling portal now lists a notice dated August 31, 2026 titled ICAR-UG Vacant Seat Matrix after Mop-up Round Admission-2026.
This confirms that some seats remained vacant after the centrally scheduled mop-up/final-round admission process.
Vacant seats do not automatically equal an open counselling round. A vacancy matrix shows seat availability after the completed process. A fresh candidate action would require a separate official notice, schedule, university instruction or reopening route.
Has ICAR announced another general UG counselling round?
No newer general ICAR UG counselling round was identified in the official counselling notices checked on September 7.
The current ICAR counselling notice list shows the August 31 post-mop-up vacant-seat matrix as the latest UG counselling notice, followed by the revised August 18 mop-up notice and the original August 17 mop-up notice.
The published central schedule continues to label the August 22–23 stage as the Mop-Up/Final Round.
A university may later issue its own admission instruction where permitted, but candidates should not assume that a university-level vacancy automatically creates another ICAR central counselling round.
Which ICAR mop-up deadlines have already passed?
| Activity | Official scheduled cutoff | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Mop-up/final-round seat allotment and post-allotment workflow | Aug 22 — 11:00 AM onwards | Completed scheduled stage |
| End of online document verification by universities | Aug 23 — 2:00 PM | Deadline passed |
| End of document re-submission and verification | Aug 23 — 5:00 PM | Deadline passed |
| End of Seat Acceptance Fee deposition | Aug 23 — 8:00 PM | Deadline passed |
The August 31 vacant-seat publication does not reopen any of these deadlines.
How should an allotted candidate verify admission now?
- Open the official ICAR counselling portal.
- Select Applicant Login.
- Check the current seat-allotment status.
- Verify whether university document verification is complete.
- Check whether any document query remains unresolved.
- Verify whether the Seat Acceptance Fee is recorded successfully.
- Check whether a Provisional Admission Letter is available.
- Read any university-specific instruction attached to the admission.
- Save available allotment, payment and admission records.
Open the official ICAR Applicant Login.
Does seat allotment alone prove admission is complete?
No. The official mop-up/final-round process included several steps after allotment.
- university document verification;
- response to university queries where applicable;
- candidate document re-submission where required;
- Seat Acceptance Fee deposition; and
- generation of the Provisional Admission Letter.
An allotted candidate should therefore verify the completed state of each applicable requirement instead of treating the allotment result alone as final admission proof.
What if the Seat Acceptance Fee was paid but the status is still pending?
If you attempted payment within the valid deadline but the Applicant Login still shows pending, failed or unconfirmed status, keep the transaction evidence and use the official ICAR counselling HelpDesk.
Also contact the admitting university where the issue appears connected to institution-side admission processing.
Public pages cannot determine whether a specific disputed payment will be reconciled or accepted.
Do not make another payment to an unofficial account or intermediary. Follow the candidate-specific dashboard and official support instructions for the transaction state shown in your account.
What if document verification is still unresolved?
The general August 23 document-verification and re-submission deadlines have passed.
If your dashboard still shows an unresolved document query, use the official HelpDesk and the allotted university’s authorised admission contact. The post-mop-up vacancy matrix does not create a new general document-submission window.
What if the Provisional Admission Letter is missing?
If you believe you completed the required allotment, verification and payment stages but cannot access the Provisional Admission Letter, check:
- whether document verification shows complete;
- whether any university query remains open;
- whether the Seat Acceptance Fee is confirmed;
- whether another candidate-side action is pending; and
- whether the allotted university has issued a separate instruction.
If those states conflict, escalate through ICAR counselling support and the admitting university rather than assuming admission is either confirmed or cancelled.
If seats are vacant, can an unallotted candidate apply now?
No general fresh-application or fresh-choice route is currently established by the vacant-seat matrix alone.
The latest official notice confirms vacancies after mop-up admission, but the central schedule still identifies the completed process as the final round. A candidate who was not allotted should wait for an official ICAR or university notice that explicitly explains eligibility, dates and the admission mechanism before acting.
Could individual universities fill the remaining seats?
The August 31 matrix shows that seats remain vacant, but the central public material checked does not establish one universal next-step rule for every university and every vacant seat.
Candidates interested in a particular agricultural university should monitor both the ICAR counselling portal and that university’s official admission page. Any university-level instruction should be checked for eligibility, authority and deadlines before relying on it.
Where should candidates ask for help?
The official counselling portal directs candidates with technical issues to the HelpDesk available through the portal.
For admission-related clarification, ICAR also states that Single Points of Contact at admitting universities are available through the counselling system.
Use ICAR Admission Counselling 2026–27 for the current central counselling status.
What should candidates monitor next?
- a new ICAR UG counselling notice after the August 31 vacancy matrix;
- any explicit fresh-choice or additional-round schedule;
- university-specific vacant-seat admission instructions;
- candidate-specific payment or document-resolution messages;
- Provisional Admission Letter availability; and
- official instructions from the allotted university.

Are the August 23 verification and fee deadlines still open?
No. The published 2 PM, 5 PM and 8 PM deadlines on August 23 have passed.

Check Applicant Login for allotment, document verification, Seat Acceptance Fee, Provisional Admission Letter and any university-specific instruction.
What if my payment or document status is still unresolved?

Verification method
The official ICAR Admission Counselling portal and notice list were checked on September 7, 2026. The portal lists ICAR-UG Vacant Seat Matrix after Mop-up Round Admission-2026 dated August 31 as the latest UG counselling notice. The published central schedule still shows the mop-up/final-round workflow ending with the August 23 verification and Seat Acceptance Fee deadlines.
ICAR’s Latest Updates and circular listings were also checked for a newer general UG mop-up extension or subsequent central counselling round. None was identified.
Last verified: September 7, 2026.
Limitations and unresolved facts
Public sources cannot establish whether a particular candidate received a seat, completed document verification, successfully paid the Seat Acceptance Fee, generated a Provisional Admission Letter or has an unresolved university-side issue.
The August 31 vacancy matrix confirms that seats remain vacant after mop-up admission, but it does not by itself establish how each remaining seat will be filled. A later ICAR or university notice may still create a new candidate action.
