What this UGC NET June 2026 status covers
UGC NET June 2026: what is the current status?

| 84 subjects covered by the August result process | Result, final answer key and cut-off available | Check scorecard, final answer key and official cut-off |
| English | Re-test provisional answer key and recorded responses available | Check responses and challenge any disputed provisional answer by September 13 |

| Sociology | Re-test provisional answer key and recorded responses available | Check responses and challenge any disputed provisional answer by September 13 |
Is the UGC NET re-test provisional answer key out?
Yes. NTA’s current UGC-NET portal lists a public notice for the Challenge of Provisional Answer Keys for UGC-NET June 2026 Re-Exam.
The candidate-activity section also provides a dedicated UGC-NET June 2026 Re-Exam Answer Key Challenge route. The re-examination covered English, Commerce and Sociology after NTA ordered those papers to be re-conducted.
Candidates can use the official challenge facility to compare the provisional key with their recorded responses. The provisional answer key is not the final result and should not be treated as a final qualification decision.
The controlling document has changed. Re-test candidates no longer need the admit card as their primary next-step document. The current candidate action is to review the provisional answer key and recorded responses while the challenge facility is open.
How does the UGC NET re-exam answer-key challenge work?
If a candidate believes a provisional answer is incorrect, the challenge must be submitted through the official online facility. The processing fee is ₹200 for each question challenged.
NTA evaluates submitted challenges through subject experts. If an objection is accepted, the answer key can be revised for the affected question. The final result is prepared using the answer key finalised after this review process.
Candidates should save their submitted-challenge and payment records. A challenge should not be considered complete merely because a disputed question was selected if the required submission or payment step was not completed.
When does the answer-key challenge window close?
The currently reported NTA challenge window runs through September 13, 2026 at 11:59 PM. The processing-fee deadline is also September 13 at 11:59 PM.
Do not wait for the result if you want to dispute a provisional answer. The challenge stage occurs before the final answer key and result for these re-test subjects.
Which subjects are covered by this re-test answer key?
| Subject | Re-test date | Current state |
|---|---|---|
| English | September 9, 2026 | Provisional answer key and challenge stage |
| Commerce | September 9, 2026 | Provisional answer key and challenge stage |
| Sociology | September 10, 2026 | Provisional answer key and challenge stage |
What is the result status for the other 84 subjects?
The result stage for the other 84 subjects remains complete.
NTA declared those results on August 28, 2026 and published the final answer keys. The official portal continues to provide the UGC-NET June 2026 Score Card, the Final Answer Key for 84 Subjects and the category-wise cut-off notice.
| Result measure | NTA figure |
|---|---|
| Registered candidates | 7,73,806 |
| Candidates who appeared | 6,07,151 |
| Qualified for JRF and Assistant Professor | 4,241 |
| Qualified for Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D. | 45,904 |
| Qualified for Ph.D. only | 97,434 |
Candidates in these 84 subjects should continue using their own scorecard and the official category-wise cut-off document for qualification checks.
What happens after the re-test answer-key challenge?
NTA will examine the challenges through subject experts and finalise the answer key for the three re-test subjects. The result and scorecard stage for English, Commerce and Sociology follows after the re-examination answer-key process is completed.
The current official UGC-NET surface does not establish a specific result-release date for these three subjects. Candidates should therefore monitor the official portal rather than relying on an assumed result date.
